The KARMA Jewels are plants that can be enjoyed for years, provided with, of course, if proper care is given. What is very important is that these little gems do NOT like too much water. The plant does not have many roots so absorption is not fast either. Root rot is therefore the most common cause when the plant dies.
Now you’re probably thinking what happens if I don’t water enough? This is actually not bad at all. The Jewel orchid indicates this by letting its leaves hang limp. When this happens give her a little water and you will see that she will recover completely.
What is the best way to water?
Feel the top layer of the soil with your finger. If it feels damp or wet, the plant does not need water at that time. If the soil feels dry then you have several options for watering; The first option is to just submerge the soil in the plant’s pot in a bucket/ or sink. You will see that there will be bubbles. Once the bubbles stop then the plant has filled up. So this is sufficient.
A second option is to water the plant with a watering can. Note, only on the ground, and not on the leaf. The amount of water depends on the size of the plant. Note, better to water a little more often than to give a whole shoot at once.
A great extra option on top of watering as above is to mist the plant with a plant sprayer. The plant also really likes this because it increases the humidity. So definitely a tip to do once a week for optimal and long lasting enjoyment of your jewel.
